Arkansas Licensure for Interpreters/Transliterators Act
In the winter of 2003, the Arkansas Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (ARID) reestablished an ad-hoc committee to address drafting a licensure law pursuing legislative support for such. ARID invited various stakeholders to be involved in this development, including representatives from the Arkansas School for the Deaf (ASD, the Arkansas Association of the Deaf (AAD), the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Interpreter Education Program (IEP), and the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services (ARS).
